Shenseea Artist Bio

Chinsea Linda Lee (born 1 October 1996), known professionally as Shenseea, is a Jamaican dancehall singer.

Shenseea started as a promo girl before being signed by Lemuel Samuel’s Rockstar. She gained recognition after remixing Vybz Kartel’s well-known song “Loodi” and performing on a side stage at Reggae Sumfest in 2015. By 2017, she had taken the main stage. As her notoriety grew, she toured internationally. In October 2018, Shenseea and Vybz Kartel released a hot collaboration, “Secret (Remix).” Alongside her singing career, she has secured multiple corporate sponsorship deals with companies such as Telecom, Firm Flow, Boom, and Pepsi-Cola JA.

In 2016, she won “Young Hot and Hype Artiste” at the Youth View Awards, Breakout Celebrity of 2016, and Collaboration of the Year for her song “Loodi” with Vybz Kartel, which remains her most successful track to date. In addition to her dancehall music, she has shown talent as a rapper. She teamed up with Sean Paul for the 2017 single “Rolling” and joined him on the European leg of his 2017 tour.

Since her rise to fame, Shenseea has toured extensively with her team, Romeich Entertainment, and continues to collaborate with musicians from both Jamaica and the U.S.

She was featured on Christina Aguilera’s 2018 album Liberation on the song “Right Moves.” After signing with Interscope Records in 2019, she released a hip-hop/dancehall track featuring American artist Tyga, called “Blessed,” which has garnered 55 million views on YouTube.

In January 2020, she collaborated with Jamaican record producer Rvssian on the single “IDKW,” featuring American rappers Swae Lee and Young Thug.

In 2021, Shenseea appeared on Masego’s album Studying Abroad and Major Lazer’s Music is the Weapon (Reloaded). She also collaborated with Kanye West on his album Donda, appearing on the songs “Pure Souls,” alongside Roddy Ricch, and “Ok Ok Pt 2” with Rooga. She was also on stage during West’s Chicago Donda event. For her contributions to Donda, Shenseea received an Album of the Year nomination at the 2022 64th Grammy Awards, marking her first Grammy nomination. In 2021, Shenseea signed with Wassim “Sal” Slaiby, aka Salxo, who also manages The Weeknd and Doja Cat. She won Best Reggae Act at the 2021 MOBO Awards.
On 21 January 2022, Shenseea released the song “Lick,” featuring Megan Thee Stallion. The song was included in her debut album Alpha, released on March 11th, 2022. Alpha debuted at number 2 on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart, making it one of the highest-charting dancehall albums in recent years. Following the success of Alpha, Shenseea continued expanding her international presence, collaborating with artists like 21 Savage and Offset.

Her transition into mainstream pop and hip-hop has also been met with success. In 2022, she earned another nomination for Best International Act at the BET Awards. Shenseea has built a reputation for her energetic performances, sharp lyricism, and ability to blend genres, solidifying her status as one of the most dynamic and influential figures in modern dancehall music.

In 2024, Shenseea continued her momentum with the release of her highly anticipated sophomore album, Never Gets Late Here. The album further showcased her versatility, blending elements of dancehall, pop, and hip-hop, while diving into more personal and mature themes. It quickly became a commercial and critical success, topping charts both in Jamaica and internationally.

The album’s standout singles, “Die for You” and “Hit and Run,” became instant hits, with “Die for You” earning praise for its emotive lyrics and infectious melody, and “Hit and Run” delivering a powerful, high-energy anthem that dominated dance playlists worldwide. Both tracks topped the charts on streaming platforms, racking up millions of streams and solidifying Shenseea’s position as one of the hottest names in the industry.

Another track, “Dating Szn,” resonated with fans for its unapologetic exploration of modern relationships and its playful, carefree vibe. The single became a viral sensation, especially on social media, where its catchy hooks and relatable lyrics were widely shared and remixed. “Dating Szn” also found success on various Billboard charts, marking Shenseea’s continued crossover appeal into the mainstream pop and hip-hop markets.

With Never Gets Late Here, Shenseea proved that she’s not just a dancehall artist but a global star, capable of delivering hits across multiple genres.
