Shigeto

Shigeto is the project of Zachary Shigeto Saginaw, a Detroit-based Japanese-American musician who operates from Ann Arbor. The name Shigeto comes from Saginaw's middle name and his grandfather's name, serving as a tribute to his Japanese heritage. He has maintained a long-standing relationship with Ghostly International since beginning his electronic music career in 2010, and also works as a WDET 101.9FM radio host. Saginaw has released music under the aliases Frank Omura and Zachary Saginaw.

Shigeto's sound spans electronic, house, experimental, IDM, and nu jazz territories, creating music that blends organic and electronic elements through his releases on Ghostly International. His catalog includes five releases on the label between 2010 and 2024, showcasing a sound that incorporates live drumming with electronic production techniques. The music often features mid-tempo grooves that draw from jazz sensibilities while maintaining electronic music's structural framework, making it suitable for both focused listening and DJ sets that require dynamic, genre-crossing selections.
