Shinichi Atobe

Shinichi Atobe is a Japanese electronic music producer based in Saitama, Japan, whose real name is 跡部進一 (Atobe Shinichi). He released his first record in 2001 before disappearing from the music scene for 13 years until Miles Whittaker and Sean Canty tracked him down in Japan in 2014. The duo discovered Atobe had unreleased material and convinced him to release "World" on their DDS label, marking his return to electronic music production.

Atobe produces dub techno, deep house, and driving techno that ranges from meditative to peak-time energy levels. His releases on DDS showcase a sound that moves between atmospheric dub techno explorations and more driving, club-focused material. Since his 2014 comeback, he has maintained a steady output on DDS, releasing five records between 2014 and 2024, including the albums "World" in 2014 and "Heat" in 2016. His productions blend Japanese electronic music sensibilities with classic dub techno frameworks, creating tracks suitable for both home listening and dancefloor deployment.
