Shoal

Shoal is Kenny Dean Kneefel, a Dutch electronic music producer based in Utrecht who began releasing music in 2017. His debut release appeared on Harmony Rec. in May 2017, establishing his presence in the underground techno scene. Kneefel operates under the single alias of Shoal and has built a consistent catalog of eight releases over seven years across multiple respected labels.

Shoal's sound spans raw and hypnotic techno through to melodic house and techno, with releases distributed across Harmony Rec., Les Enfants Terribles, Tikita, Something Happening Somewhere, and Fur:ther Sessions. His productions range from minimal deep tech constructions to peak time driving techno, offering DJs both introspective floor moments and high-energy peak hour material. The artist's output demonstrates a progression from deeper, more hypnotic techno in his early releases toward incorporating melodic elements in recent productions, while maintaining the raw edge that defines his core sound across tempo ranges suitable for various points in a DJ set.
