About

Silent Servant is the alias of John Juan Mendez, an American techno producer born in Guatemala on August 14, 1977, and raised in Los Angeles. Mendez began DJing at age 16 and made contact with Birmingham-based Regis in 1999, becoming a member of the Sandwell District collective throughout the 2000s. He served as art director for Sandwell District while working professionally as a graphic designer and art director at a high-end eyewear company. Mendez also releases music under the aliases Jasper, Juan Mendez, and Silent Editions.

Silent Servant produces peak-time driving techno and modern electro with industrial influences across 17 releases since 2012. His music appears on respected labels including Tresor Records, Hospital Productions, L.I.E.S. Records, and his former collective's sandwell district imprint. The project spans techno, electro, industrial, and house territories, delivering the hard-hitting, stripped-down aesthetic associated with his Sandwell District background. His releases maintain the dark, functional approach suitable for peak-time DJ sets, with recent output on L.I.E.S. showing continued activity into 2025.
