About

Slam is a DJ and producer duo from Glasgow, Scotland, consisting of Stuart McMillan and Orde Meikle. The pair met in 1986 in Sheffield, where Meikle was studying Geography at university and McMillan was working in a bar, before forming Slam in 1994. They co-founded Soma Quality Recordings and have promoted the legendary Atlantis parties from 1989-1992 and ongoing Slam parties in Glasgow since 1991. The duo has operated under aliases including Pressure Funk, Counter Plan, and Freelance Science, taking their name from Phuture's influential track "Slam."

Slam produces peak time driving techno and tech house, with releases spanning from 2009 to 2017 across 111 documented tracks. Their music appears primarily on their own Soma Records imprint, with additional releases on FIGURE. The duo's sound centers on high-energy techno designed for peak hours, incorporating driving basslines and relentless percussion that reflects their deep roots in Glasgow's underground dance scene. Their productions maintain the industrial edge and intensity that established them as fixtures in Scotland's electronic music landscape, delivering tracks built specifically for dance floor impact.
