Son

Son is a Canadian pop-rock band from Toronto that formed in 2008. The group's original lineup for their first album "Thriller" consisted of Son Beck on synthesizers and vocals, Dave Szigeti on bass, Anthony Mitchell on drums, and Simon Craig on guitar. For their second album "Wolfstein," the lineup shifted to Son Beck on synthesizers and vocals, Dave Szigeti moving to guitar, and Mocky on drums. The band recorded a third album titled "Red Leather" which remains unreleased.

Between 2013 and 2015, Son released five tracks on the Malicious Smile label, working within tech house, peak time techno, and minimal/deep tech genres. Their electronic output spans from July 2013 to December 2015, representing a departure from their pop-rock origins into club-focused territory. The releases on Malicious Smile demonstrate a focus on driving, peak-time oriented productions suitable for dance floors, though specific tempo ranges and detailed sound characteristics of these electronic works remain undocumented.
