Soulstatejazz

Soulstatejazz operates as a multi-instrumental live and electronic jazz ensemble hybrid from Wales, featuring Tom Ellis on bass, drums, percussion and production alongside collaborators on Fender Rhodes, Moog, tenor saxophone, and custom Reaktor and Ableton instruments. The group also performs under the alias The Soulstatejazz Band and began releasing electronic music in May 2020.

Their sound spans deep house, afro house, jackin house, and organic house with downtempo elements, creating jazz-influenced electronic productions for labels including Noire & Blanche and Banoffee Pies Records. The ensemble has released 10 tracks since 2020, blending live instrumental performances with electronic production techniques that maintain the groove and energy of house music while incorporating jazz harmonies and improvisation. Their releases on Banoffee Pies demonstrate a consistent approach to organic house that works equally well in intimate settings and on larger dance floors.
