SPECIAL REQUEST

Special Request is the alias of Paul Woolford, a Leeds-born producer who launched the project in 2012. Active since 2015 with releases across house and techno, Woolford operates under several aliases including Bobby Peru and Skip Donahue. The Special Request project draws inspiration from UK pirate radio stations, aiming to capture the raw energy and diversity of illegal airwaves that influenced Woolford throughout his career.

Special Request releases house, deep house, and peak-time driving techno across prestigious labels including Houndstooth, XL Recordings, R&S Records, Fabric, and Phantasy Sound. The project spans 25 releases from 2015 through 2025, covering both dancefloor-focused tracks and full albums. The sound reflects the unruly conventions of pirate radio culture, translating the chaotic energy of underground broadcasting into club-ready productions that move between house tempos and harder techno territories.
