Steel Grooves

Steel Grooves is the moniker of Rex Bruton, an American DJ and producer based in Austin, Texas. Operating under aliases including Rex B and Single Cell, Bruton launched the Steel Grooves project in October 2022 with his first release appearing on Urban Kickz Recordings. Since establishing the project, he has maintained consistent output across multiple imprints in the underground techno circuit.

Steel Grooves produces raw, deep, and hypnotic techno alongside peak time driving material that spans the spectrum from introspective to dancefloor-focused energy. His releases appear on Urban Kickz Recordings, Dreizehn Schallplatten, and LW Recordings, with five releases documented between 2022 and 2026. The music ranges from hypnotic, stripped-down compositions that build tension through repetitive elements to driving techno designed for peak hour sets, offering DJs versatility across different moments in their programming.
