Sub Focus

Sub Focus is Nicolaas Douwma, a British drum & bass producer from Guildford who began his career in 2003 with his debut release "Down The Drain" on Frequency Recordings. He was discovered when a friend passed his demo CD to Ram Records boss Andy C, leading to his signing with the Ram Records family. His first major Ram Records release was "X-Ray" in 2005, which became one of the biggest drum & bass tracks of that year.

Sub Focus operates across multiple electronic genres, producing drum & bass, tech house, UK garage, bassline, and dance pop. His recent releases appear on Positiva Records, with ten tracks released between April and December 2025. His sound spans from the high-energy breaks and basslines characteristic of drum & bass to the four-four rhythms of tech house, demonstrating his ability to work across different tempo ranges and energy levels within the electronic music spectrum.
