Sub Secret Artist Bio

Is a beautiful partnership of two made up of Stephen Fewings and Mark Standerline. Friends from years ago, the duo decided to start putting on parties following their move to good old London town. These parties, which started in the west end, quickly grew and in 2007 the night moved to Shoreditch. Having been involved in music for many years it was hardly a shock to find the boys starting to produce together and they used their monthly night as a show case for their productions with tracks like 5am and Slide Clap proving their worth on the dance floor. After meeting up with Code Kontrol the boys opened their hearts and arms wide to the crew and began working frantically towards new releases for this up and coming label. As producers Sub Secret gather their influences from the likes of M-nus, Plus 8, Playhouse, Freude am Tanzen, Poker Flat and Mothership records as well as wider sources such as The Verve, The Stone Roses and Spence Davis – From these they strive to make sure that every track is innovative, different and darn right beautiful.

Stephen Fewings (Sketch Box): After persuading his school mates to save up their dinner money to buy a guitar for him as lead of his first band, Stephen rushed home to learn the riff to the track that made him fall in love with music ‘Eye of the Tiger’. From here Stephen cultivated his music and engineering skills paying for himself to go to uni to study ‘Entertainment Technology’. After his introduction to minimal at the Berlin Love Parade in 2003, Stephen devoted himself to setting up a home studio and buying himself time to follow his dream of producing the finest quality Minimal Techno. After his move to London the doors to his dream have begun to open.

Mark Standerline (Devilish Little Grin): Following childhood introductions to the Beatles, The Doors and Pink Floyd, Mark’s musical inspiration spread far and wide before he finally decided to blow his bank balance on a set of turn tables in 2003. From then he quickly began playing at parties and establish a name for himself playing Hard House (a foolish follie he admits). In 2004 Mark moved to Barcelona where he spent 3 years playing at Bars, clubs and the beachside Chiringuitos playing a mix of soul, funk, house and tech house. Returning to London Mark met up with old friend Stephen who quickly planted the minimal seed in his mind and with in weeks his house days were behind him.

Their forthcoming release on Minimal Force records ‘The Fade In Fade Out EP’ (expected May 2009) brings together all of these influences, mixes it with the sound of up and coming minimal, as pioneered by the Label, and adds just a pinch of something special.
