Ten City

Ten City is a Chicago house group formed in 1987, originally operating under the name Ragtyme. The trio consists of vocalist Byron Stingily, guitarist Herb Lawson, and keyboard player Byron Burke, who came together under the guidance of producer Marshall Jefferson after Jefferson discovered Stingily's vocals on Dezz 7's "Funny Love" at Trax Records. The group achieved mainstream exposure during the late 1980s and early 1990s, becoming one of the few house acts to break through to wider audiences during house music's formative years.

Ten City produces house music spanning deep house, tech house, and Afro house, with recent releases also incorporating indie dance elements. The group released material on Ultra and Nervous Records between 2021 and 2025, with their sound drawing from Chicago's foundational house tradition while integrating contemporary production techniques. Their vocal-driven approach maintains the soulful energy characteristic of classic Chicago house, delivering tracks that work across both underground and more commercial dance floors.
