The Vessel

The Vessel Artist Bio

The Vessel is a Puerto Rican-based Punk band conceived in 2009 between childhood friends Eduardo Villanueva (Guitar/vocals) and Jean Ortiz (Drums). They shortly recruited Paul Ryan on bass via recommendation from a friend.

The band at first had heavy and easily identifiable influence from bands such as The Misfits, AFI, The Murderdolls, Tiger Army, Anti-Flag and Bouncing Souls, but later their sound gravitated more towards Story of the Year, Comeback Kid, Death Before Dishonour, Turbonegro and others. Fans were quoted as to saying their sound was similar to The Red Armada and Attack! Attack!

Immediately everything clicked as all three came from almost the same punk rock background. After nine months of countless performances around the island they recorded their first unofficial EP “After the Violence” that served as a calling card to be able to show their music before being invited to shows in the local scene.

A year later the Vessel decided to re-record their first EP with only four songs instead of nine. For the purpose of; “Really present the listener with a teaser, instead of revealing your whole hand at once.” During which recording process they decided to add another member to the band in the form of Emmanuel Olivo to share in guitar and backup vocal duties. From the get go he was a welcome addition to the team.

In 2012 the band suffered a severe loss when Jean Ortiz announced that he would leave the band due to personal reasons. The band was supportive in his decision and hoped the best for their former band mate. Shortly after, a long time friend, Jean Paul Fernandez was asked to fill in for jean Ortiz for a couple of performances. After which performances he was asked to be a permanent member of The vessel and he Agreed. The Vessel are currently working on the final touches of their upcoming EP titled “Were’Wolf” .

The band are now on hiatus until further notice. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
