Tycho

Tycho is the project of Scott Hansen from Sacramento, California, who operates under the ISO50 alias for his visual design work. Originally a solo electronic endeavor, Tycho evolved into a live band format following the release of the "Dive" album, with Hansen joined by Zac Brown and Rory O'Connor for performances that combine electronic elements with live instrumentation. The project has maintained an active release schedule since 2011, with 18 releases documented on Electrobuzz through August 2024.

Tycho's sound centers on downtempo electronica and ambient compositions that blend electronic production with organic instrumentation. Hansen releases primarily through Ghostly International and Ninja Tune, two labels known for their forward-thinking electronic catalogs, while also maintaining his own "tycho" imprint. The music operates in the chillout and ambient spectrum, characterized by warm, mid-tempo arrangements that incorporate both synthesized and acoustic elements. Since transitioning from purely electronic production to a hybrid live band format, Tycho's releases have maintained the project's instrumental focus while expanding the sonic palette through the integration of live drums, guitar, and bass performances.
