Ursula Rucker

Ursula Desiré Rucker is an American poet and activist from Philadelphia who began her artistic career reading poetry at the city's Zanzibar Blue in 1994. A Temple University journalism graduate, Rucker transitioned into electronic music production in 2013, releasing her first electronic tracks on June 16 of that year. She operates as a solo artist across multiple electronic music labels.

Rucker's electronic music spans deep house, melodic house & techno, and indie dance, with releases on respected labels including Houndstooth, Anjunadeep, Mobilee Records, and Tronic. Her sound incorporates her spoken word background into house and techno frameworks, creating tracks that range from deep, introspective house to peak-time driving techno. With 25 releases between 2013 and 2026, Rucker has established herself as a consistent presence in the underground electronic scene, blending her poetic sensibilities with contemporary dance floor sensibilities.
