Variant is the electronic music project of American producer Stephen Hitchell, who began releasing music under this alias in 2014. Hitchell also operates under the aliases Radius and Soultek, and has built a catalog of 17 releases spanning over a decade of production work.

Variant's sound centers on dub techno and ambient compositions, with releases appearing on Detroit's Echospace label, West End Communications, and French imprint Ultimae. The project explores electronica and downtempo territories alongside peak-time driving techno, creating music that ranges from meditative ambient pieces to club-ready tracks.
