Variant Artist Bio

Variant refers to multiple artists, and a re-direction for Variants:

1) USA-based electronic music producer and Echospace [Detroit] record label head honcho, Stephen Hitchell, uses the Variant moniker to release his more long-form ambient dub and ambient techno recordings. Variant’s albums invoke various celestial phenomena ranging from comets, to stars, to the aurora borealis. The cosmic preoccupation plays out in the music too, which ranges from warm analog space ambient infused with field recordings to more rhythmically active synthesizer loops and drones. Indeed, Variant’s recordings are frequently intended to “score the constellation of mystical events occurring in the depths of space.” Later works concern themselves with dream states and oneirology.

2) Variant is a metalcore band from Florida, consisting of Devin Ingelido, formerly the bassist of emo-pop act VersaEmerge, Javi Melo of JMelo Recordings, and drummer Wyatt Wood. With a stream of steady singles, each evolving from the previous one, Variant is a force to be reckoned with in the world of modern metal, with a combination of technical but catchy riffs and poignant song-writing. 3) Variants is a Czech-Polish project founded in 2014 by Paweł Gabryszewski (aka Base Covers) and Jakub Havlák (aka Fantek). They combine various styles of drum and bass and downtempo genres, which are supposed to evoke specific emotions and conclusions in the listener. They like each other in extraordinary and minimalist sounds.

Their debut in September 2015 at Liquid Tones was a real success with their EP called The Story Ends, whose VIP version released at the end of 2017 became their flagship production. Then through several free releases, they made a good success and found their way to release the next EP on Nu Venture Records in 2018 with tracks Arcade and Faded.

First big release came out in 2020 on the Hoofbeats Music label based in the Czech republic, including two new tracks called “The Painter” and “Seasons”. “The Painter” was played on Rene LaVice BBC Radio 1 Drum & Bass Show and is featured on the famous Liquicity Youtube channel. During the covid madness they released another free “Antidote EP” with 5 tracks intertwined in one story and finally in the 2022 “Thousand Scars” track was born and released as a single and part of the Night Drive VA album on Galacy records.
