Vatican Shadow is the ambient industrial and techno project of American artist Dominick Fernow, who operates under several aliases including Prurient and Window Cleaning By Ian. Fernow began releasing material under the Vatican Shadow moniker in 2014, with his first documented release appearing on June 9th of that year. The project serves as Fernow's primary outlet for techno-focused material, distinct from his other electronic endeavors.

Vatican Shadow's sound spans ambient industrial textures and peak time driving techno, creating material that ranges from downtempo electronica to club-ready tracks. Fernow releases Vatican Shadow material primarily through Hospital Productions, Ostgut Ton, and Just This, with his catalog including 14 releases between 2014 and 2020. The project's dual nature allows it to function both as headphone music and dancefloor material, with releases covering the spectrum from atmospheric electronic compositions to harder techno productions designed for peak time club play.
