Westbam

Maximilian Lenz, known as WestBam, was born March 4, 1965 in Münster, Germany. The name WestBam derives from his home state of Westphalia and his role model Afrika Bambaataa. He began his DJ career in 1983 at the Odeon Club in Münster before making a permanent move to Berlin in 1984. Lenz is the brother of Fabian Lenz, who performs as DJ Dick. He has released music under several aliases including Mr. Y, It's 2 Hard, and Professor Taub-Karcher.

WestBam's current output spans multiple electronic genres from deep house to hard techno, with releases on labels including Keinemusik, Riot Recordings, Embassy One, and 44 LABEL GROUP. His catalog ranges from driving peak-time techno to organic house and downtempo, showing a versatility that extends from high-energy dancefloor material to more melodic and atmospheric productions. Since beginning his electronic music releases in 2013, he has maintained consistent output across diverse tempos and moods, making him suitable for DJs programming everything from intimate deep house sets to peak-time techno floors.
