The melodies fall out in twirling balletic forms on lead track “De Flattekat”, which keeps the groove gentle to allow more room for the expressive piano lines to roam unhindered and it makes for a joyously sunny end result. “Langhors” brings a little more bite to the table with a punchy square wave bassline and a more distinct kick, but still the keys are king here as jazzy, Floating Points-esque moods come tumbling down over the stout drums with classically trained poise.

A decade on, the imprint is stronger than ever and over 120 releases deep. This 124th EP draws together the label’s past and future, with Compost veteran Rainer Truby joining forces with recent Local Talk graduate, Italian 20-something Corrado Bucci. The two tracks are, predictably, rather sumptuous, with “Step Forward” offering a heartwarming blend of typically Germany deep house groovery and the warm, organic, live elements Truby is so famous for. There’s a slight Latin shuffle about the beats on “Sidestep”, a pudding-rich exploration of classic US deep house smothered in toasty chords and hazy vocal samples.

The rest of the EP is similarly deep and mesmerising, scrapping their previous floor-centred house escapades for a richer, more textural sound that will do just as well on a pair of headphones as they will in a warm up DJ set.
