More From This Label

Davide Squillace welcomes ATAXIA to his label This And That Lab, and along with three original tracks the EP also features a stunning remix by Florian Busse.

Skating the line between house and techno, ATAXIA is a US duo based in Detroit and they take pride in the city’s heritage plus the influence it’s had on their own music. Consisting of Eric Ricker and Ted Krisko the pair have been a mainstay of Seth Troxler’s label Play It Say It.

Other labels to feature ATAXIA tracks include high flying imprints such as 20/20 Vision, Planet E Communications, KMS Records, Visionquest, Culprit and Nervous Records.

Florian Busse has featured previously on This And That Lab working in collaboration with Re.you, but this time he is back as a solo artist providing an exquisite remix in the style he’s also showcased on labels such as Bar 25 Music, Connected Frontline and Komplike.

Track one “Mad Mick” opens the release with booming tom drums and techy synth stabs fused with forceful vocals that add tension to the building momentum. Demanding respect, this compelling cut of tech house has a peak time energy sure to set the dance floor alight.

Stepping up for the second track, Florian Busse reworks “Mad Mick” into a deep and moody version with throbbing bass textures. Taking ownership of the track, his remix is a stark contrast to the original, bringing a poignant mood and deep emotion to make his remix masterfully unique.

Third on the release is “Mickster” which has a trippy atmosphere with growing FX and wonky rhythms that create a mind bending audio experience. Churning and magnificent, this crazy cut is a blending pot of textures that only gets better when played loud.

Finishing with some funk, “Mick Knack” has breakbeat percussion and bursts of acid blended with rave influenced melody hooks. A true blast from the past, this quirky little number is a contemporary classic that puts a modern twist on timeless sounds.
