Frankey & Sandrino make a striking return to their own imprint, Sum Over Histories, with a long-awaited remix of Weine Nicht Kind by Ede & Max Joni — a track originally released on Watergate Records two years ago and celebrated ever since for its emotional depth and genre-bending character. Rooted in connection and shared experience, Weine Nicht Kind is a track that speaks to vulnerability and strength in equal measure. Its marching melody, brassy bassline, and the raw, German-spoken vocal from Max Joni channel the energy of Neue Deutsche Welle, colliding Berlins stark expressiveness with 80s nostalgia. The original release included a Dub Mix and Max Jonis own remix — an Indie Dance take laced with Afro House rhythms. Now, Frankey & Sandrino add their unique touch. Inspired from the first listen, the duo transformed the track into a shimmering, groove-laden version that leans into disco-pop with their unmistakable finesse. Ede originally sent me the track quite some time ago, Sandrino recalls. Maxs voice immediately captivated me – especially because its sung in German. Right away, we knew we had to try a remix. As soon as we started playing around with the vocal and the bassline, everything came together quickly and naturally. We actually made the track over two years ago – and to be honest, we like it even more now than we did back then. Now, after sitting with the remix and letting it mature, Frankey & Sandrino are ready to share it with the world — a testament to patience, intuition, and their evolving sound. Their remix of Weine Nicht Kind is out on May 2nd on Sum Over Histories.
