Behind the Tech House : Release Notes
With NUTZ041, Crazy Nutz Music presents “Oh La La”, the new three-track EP from MS PIKA, the DJ and producer from Gran Canaria whose name has been steadily growing across the international house and tech house circuit through a sound clearly built for the dancefloor and a profile that combines artistic vision with strong scene presence. Beyond her work in the booth and the studio, MS PIKA also stands out as the driving force behind Mambo Events and her own label platforms Mambo Lab and Fanatiko Records, reinforcing a career shaped by initiative, identity and club awareness. Her music has appeared on an extensive list of labels connected to contemporary club culture, including Mambo Lab, FANATIKO, NoZzo, Under No Illusion, Blanc, Hood Politics, Great Stuff, Casa Rossa, Nastyfunk, House of Hustle, Material, Happy Techno, RIM, Tech Avenue, Klaphouse, And Dance, Zootechnique and DeepNHeat, while her productions have earned support from names such as Franky Rizardo, Mau P, Ale de Tuglie, Calves, CID and Tomi & Kesh, all of which reinforces the projection and relevance of her sound within the current scene. That context gives additional weight to “Oh La La”, an EP built around three original cuts—”Oh LaLa”, “Freaky” and “Criminal”—that offer a cohesive but nuanced view of her artistic language, balancing latin flow, club functionality, sophistication and rhythmic freshness. The opening title track, “Oh LaLa”, sets the tone through a minimalist and elegant Latin Tech approach. At 129 BPM and in F minor, it channels high energy through a sleek, selective groove led by a dry, firm kick and a playful, enveloping bassline that gives the track much of its bounce and hook factor. Hats, snare, toms and cymbals keep the rhythm alive with a modern latin feel, while keys and melodic details add subtle texture and refinement. A sensual, fun and highly catchy female vocal, blending Korean and English, gives the track a distinctive and contemporary edge. “Freaky” then moves into a more direct House / Tech House space, built around constant percussion, sustained synth presence and a steady bassline that keeps the dancefloor flowing with positive, energetic and slightly uplifting momentum. One of its most defining traits is its enveloping male vocal, processed with reverb and an extremely wide stereo field that adds hypnotic depth to the mix. Closing the EP, “Criminal” leans into a firmer Tech House direction at 128 BPM in F minor, driven by a highly featured bassline that delivers sophistication, traction and physical presence, while a male vocal with latin Spanish rap phrasing injects flow, groove and attitude. Altogether, “Oh La La” confirms MS PIKA’s ability to shape stylish, latin-rooted and highly effective club music with identity, elegance and real dancefloor instinct.
