Behind the Tech House : Release Notes

NUTZ049 places Terry Iarusci and Roberto Morra at the centre of “Wake Up”, a two-track EP released by Crazy Nutz Music on 21 August 2026 following its 17 August pre-order. The record continues a discographic relationship previously documented through “Bad Feelings” on SK LAB and “On The Block” on SK Recordings, while taking the Italian producers’ shared language into faster, rawer and more confrontational territory. It connects contemporary Tech House, Minimal/Deep Tech and underground House with the rhythmic attitude of Ghetto House and old-school hip-hop. “Wake Up” opens through a female English vocal that controls the track’s architecture. Explicit, defiant and rap-like in delivery, its commands, declarations of power and adult phrases create a psychological presence that demands a response. The “Wake up, wake up” refrain acts as an immediate signal, while chops, stutters and fragmented bursts of “get your” reshape syllables as tonal percussion during the build-ups. Beneath it, a dry pointed kick locks with a rolling, syncopated bassline carrying substantial sub pressure. Cutting hi-hats, shakers, crisp claps and background percussion loops maintain flow, while micro-breaks briefly remove weight so every drop can restore the groove with bodily impact. The production avoids broad melodic progression and concentrates its effectiveness in repetition, swing, spectral separation and the exchange between tension and release. “Pump Up The Volume” preserves that physical logic but replaces the first track’s female persona with a dry, authoritative male English voice. Its central phrase belongs to club history, yet here it becomes a structural device: it marks transitions, regulates energy and tightens through increasingly compressed edits before each drop. A thick rolling bassline, firm-transient kick, swinging hi-hats and warmer claps connect classic House memory with current Tech House force. Processed details carrying the colour of an old transmission add history without turning the record into a retro exercise. Vocal loops preserve recognition after the complete hook disappears, while progressive introductions, breathable breakdowns and functional exits provide DJs with several mixing zones. The EP is cohesive because both tracks treat voice as a rhythmic engine and bass as narrative force, but each offers a different form of authority: “Wake Up” explores individual provocation; “Pump Up The Volume” activates the collective. Terry Iarusci is an Italian DJ and producer associated with Rome whose sound spans Tech House, Minimal/Deep Tech and deeper House, supported by recent releases on Techaway Records, SK LAB, Motel Calypso Records, Delicious Recordings and SK Recordings. Roberto Morra works across House, Tech House and Minimal/Deep Tech through records including “Ay Papi”, “Dress”, “Bad Feelings” and “On The Block”, alongside activity as a Rapsodia Experience resident and within the Absence environment. Their wider career context adds substance without being confused with release-specific promotion. Terry’s documented 2026 activity includes Beatport Live at Hï Ibiza’s Wild Corner, a Traxsource Minimal/Deep Tech Top 100 entry for “I Know” and Jamie Jones’s selection of “On The Block” for Hot Robot Radio. Roberto’s material records support from established international artists, growing Italian club experience and the continued expansion of a catalogue shaped by direct crowd response. NUTZ049 combines those trajectories in two peak-time tools defined by vocal identity, technical control and underground purpose, strengthening the Crazy Nutz Music catalogue through groove, pressure and genuine dancefloor functionality.
