Behind the House : Release Notes

The twenty-third exploration of Ethereality takes us back to the home soil of the crann bethadh, the celtic tree of life. Richard McMaster makes a very welcome return with his first original productions on the label this year, with much more to follow this summer. This time our journey starts at Dusk with ambient soundscapes and organic percussion teaming up with warm synth stabs and catchy arpeggios. Counter melodies carefully call and respond in the fantastic fashion that has become synonymous with his sound. At Dawn, things are not quite as dark. Against a backdrop of delightful field recordings, acoustic guitar, electric pianos and pizzicato strings take us out of the shadows and light the way for glorious synth leads to take centre stage. Lastly Jakhira takes us back in time with his retromix of Dawn. Classic drum machines and vintage digital synthesizers are paired nicely with live instrumentation and a filthy analog bassline. Keeping the party going from dusk until dawn. Who needs sleep anyway?
