A name woven deeply into Clubsonica Records history, Colombian artist Dabeat returns to the label with a three-track EP of the highest quality in “Naural”, joining forces with compatriot Mauro Aguirre on the EP’s closing track. With a production career stretching back nearly two decades, David Barragan has long been established at the forefront of the South American progressive movement through his Dabeat pseudonym. Music for the likes of Univack, Timeless Moment, Mango Alley and BeatFreak Recordings sits alongside acclaimed work for Proton Music, where the solo “Equilibrium” and “Elevate” EPs in 2022 and 2023 followed a fruitful collaborative partnership with Kamilo Sanclemente on 2020’s “Beyond the Future, Vol. 1”. The Clubsonica faithful need little reminder of his pedigree, with the “Vesta | Evolving” EP forming a lynchpin around which remixes of Golan Zocher, Matan Caspi, Rick Pier O’Neil, and Gux Jimenez have all showcased a producer of rare melodic instinct in solo and collaborative guises. With March 2026’s “Out of the Blue” EP further cementing his reputation and the title track of “Naural” already gracing Hernan Cattaneo’s Electronic Groove “EG.1062” mix, a return to Colombia’s premier progressive imprint is another impressive highlight. Opening proceedings, “Naural” powers forward through driving kick and offbeat hats as a filtered arpeggio gradually emerges atop a hefty bass sequence. Pads and effects build atmosphere as a spine-tingling key change at the breakdown extends into a smooth and effortless third movement. The result is a glorious interweaving of motifs that create energy and vibrancy. “Parallel Particles” continues the rhythmic intent with chugging bassline groove and ticking percussive topline. A glassy pluck creates a hypnotic cadence as shimmering synth lines pan the stereo spectrum in effervescent fashion. Building through the second half, the stellar combination of synth layers gathers atmospheric weight in a denouement full of gravitas. A cornerstone of the Colombian underground for nearly three decades, Mauro Aguirre has graced countless bars, clubs and parties alongside celebrated radio performances on La Super Estacion 100.5 and La X 96.5 FM. His “Ocean Of Storms” and “Hera” collaborations with Kamilo Sanclemente arrived on Clubsonica Records in late 2017 and early 2018, while remixes of Rick Pier O’Neil, Mental Order, and Rockka & Maze 28 saw another side to Mauro’s work. Now joining forces with Dabeat, “Your Face” quickly blossoms into a deep and dynamic groove. A 16th note bassline pattern and mirrored synth provide energy and melodic joy as it creates a free-flowing energy throughout the second half, with a subtle vocal adding a further touch of class to provide sublime dancefloor energy. Reaching new heights with “Naural”, Dabeat delivers a glorious triple-tracker that finds Clubsonica Records once again at the forefront of deep progressive.
