Colomboi began his journey as a DJ in his hometown of Bogota before moving to London, where he spent a period of time developing his skills as a producer and exploring the sound that would eventually shape his artistic identity. His journey later took him to Madrid, Spain, where he is now based. His approach to Techno is deeply rooted in classic influences, combining deep grooves, powerful chords, melodic textures, and a distinctive old-school character with a contemporary production style. His sound carries the spirit of classic Techno while remaining fresh, dynamic, and firmly connected to today’s underground scene. After contributing to our Between Lands & Oceans III V.A., released this past August, Colomboi now returns to the label with ‘Alchemy’, marking his first full EP on Illegal Alien Records. His productions have also appeared on respected imprints such as REBELSKIN RECORDS, Raw Quarter, and his own imprint, Far From Perfect, further establishing his own musical identity. Composed of five carefully crafted tracks, Alchemy explores different shades of groove, melody, tension, and atmosphere. Driven by rolling rhythms, powerful chords, hypnotic elements, and melodic textures, the EP carries a strong old-school spirit without falling into nostalgia, bringing those classic influences into a modern context. Across its five cuts, Alchemy moves between deep, driving grooves and more atmospheric passages, maintaining a cohesive sonic direction throughout. The result is a release that pays respect to the foundations of the genre while reflecting Colomboi’s own perspective and contemporary approach to production.
