A Catalan artist with a distinctive approach to Techno, Jen Cruz has been developing her sound through a versatile blend of Detroit-inspired influences, House, Techno, and Hardgroove, with housy vibes naturally woven into her productions. Since establishing herself in Barcelona in 2019, she has continued to shape her own musical identity, combining timeless textures, powerful rhythms, and a strong sense of movement both in the booth and in the studio. Over the past few years, Jen Cruz has been on an impressive rise, steadily building her presence within the international underground scene while staying true to her own musical vision. Her music has already found its way onto respected labels such as Ben Sims’ label Hardgroove and RAW / QTR, reflecting the growing attention around her work as both a DJ and producer. Jen Cruz brings a strong sense of personality to everything she does, focused on defining her own essence and developing her career on her own terms. ‘Shifted Focus’ marks her debut EP on Illegal Alien Records, following her contribution to our Between Lands & Oceans III VA compilation, released last August. The EP features four tracks in total, with three original productions that explore different shades of her sound, bringing together driving grooves, energetic rhythms, housy vibes, and carefully crafted textures. Completing the release is a remix from the powerful and legendary Mark Williams, who returns to Illegal Alien Records after appearing earlier this year on our Deported Series: Thirteen. His interpretation brings his signature old-school groove to ‘Shifted Focus’, adding another layer of character and movement to the release, with the timeless energy that only he knows how to deliver. With ‘Shifted Focus’, Jen Cruz takes another step forward in her rapidly developing journey, joining the Illegal Alien Records family with a release that reflects her individuality, versatility, and passion for timeless Techno. www.illegalalienrecords.com
