Behind the House : Release Notes

Fantastic Friends Recordings presents Rover EP by David Labeij, featuring two originals and remixes from label co-founders Mandarin and Nicolas Duvoisin.nnA longtime name in the Dutch underground, David Labeij has been active since the early 2000s, both solo and through projects such as Polder and MFD. His productions have always carried a distinctive mix of house and minimal, with deeper and jazzy elements running through his sound.nnOn Rover EP, “Rover” and “Take Em Both” keep that signature intact: tight arrangements, a strong sense of swing and enough musical detail to reward repeated plays.nnMandarin takes Rover into his Classic Remix, built as a future house classic around the essential ingredients of underground house — simple, effective and made to stay in the box. Nicolas Duvoisin goes the other way with Take Em Both, adding a floating vocal and a more reduced approach for the after-hours.nnA proper Fantastic Friends connection, with David Labeij joining forces with two of the label’s co-founders for four tracks made to be played out.
