Behind the House : Release Notes
DJ and producer Antonio Rec lands on Catz ‘n Dogz’ STEP Recordings with the ‘2002’ EP. Hailing from Fasano, a small town in Apulia’s Itria Valley, and now splitting his time between Rome, New York and Apulia, the Italian artist’s warm Mediterranean culture has shaped his own interpretation of House music. He has earned recognition and releases on labels such as Cr2 Records, Mood Child and Circus Recordings, as well as a vinyl release on historic London-based label Fabric Records. His groove-driven productions have earned support from Joseph Capriati, Paco Osuna, Cloonee, Mason Collective and Detlef, among other heavyweights. Antonio Rec’s ‘2002’ presents us with two contrasting cuts from the Rome-based producer. Playful and moody in equal measure, the EP opens with the fun, uplifting title track, riding a catchy Korg-style bassline, before ‘Deepest Desire’ slides into darker territory, punctuated by a squelchy synth that bubbles up from the depths.
