Sadness: 2-Track Techno (Raw / Deep / Hypnotic) Release

Behind the Techno (Raw / Deep / Hypnotic) : Release Notes

The latest release on Madloch’s Crossfade Sounds welcomes back K-Joshua with “Sadness,” a two-track EP featuring “Trapped Sadness” and “Quiet Sadness.” The project follows his previous appearance on the label with “The Matrix EP,” where “Anderson & Smith” and “Morpheus & Neo” introduced his deep and atmospheric approach to the Crossfade Sounds catalogue. K-Joshua is the dub and ambient techno alias of DJ Joshua, an artist whose involvement with electronic music stretches back to the mid-1990s. Starting out as a DJ around 1994/1995, he has spent three decades exploring electronic music through club sets, radio shows, guest podcasts and genre-focused mix series. That longstanding dedication eventually developed into a deeper focus on production, leading to the launch of his own JFLM Recordings imprint in January 2024 as a home for his original material. Under the K-Joshua moniker, that experience is channelled towards the deeper and more spacious territories of dub and ambient techno. “Sadness” continues the path established by “The Matrix EP” through two new original productions. “Trapped Sadness” opens the release before “Quiet Sadness” takes over for its second half, with both tracks reflecting the introspective character at the heart of the project. The EP brings K-Joshua back to Crossfade Sounds with a concise continuation of his exploration into hypnotic rhythms, atmosphere and the more contemplative side of techno.
