Deadbeat

Deadbeat is the alias of Scott Monteith, a Canadian electronic musician based in Montreal. Monteith has been releasing dub-laden minimal electronics since 1998, establishing himself as a consistent presence in the underground electronic scene. He operates under the BLKRTZ label, which serves as his primary outlet for new material and hosts his Bandcamp presence.

Monteith's sound spans dub techno through to peak time driving techno, with releases appearing on labels including Visionquest, Souvenir Music, and Midnight Shift since 2009. His productions blend hypnotic techno frameworks with dub-influenced processing, creating tracks that work across deeper and more driving contexts. The Deadbeat project encompasses both studio albums and dancefloor-focused material, with Monteith maintaining an active release schedule that includes live performance elements alongside his recorded output.
