DJ Pierre

DJ Pierre, born Nathaniel Pierre Jones, originates from Harvey, Chicago and has been active since 1965. The Chicago producer pioneered acid house with the group Phuture in the mid-to-late 1980s before relocating to New York in 1990, where he developed his signature "wild pitch" style. He served as A&R at Strictly Rhythm from February 1992 to April 1994 and founded DJP Records in 1999, followed by Afro Acid Muzik in April 2002. Pierre operates under several aliases including Pierre's Pfantasy Club, Pfantasia, and P-Ditty.

His sound spans house, tech house, deep house, and peak time driving techno, with 40 releases documented since 2012. Pierre releases music through Get Physical Music, his own Afro Acid Digital imprint, Jack Trax Records, Strictly Rhythm, and King Street Sounds. His productions feature the layered, looped-up approach he developed in New York's underground scene, characterized by driving basslines and acid-influenced synth work that maintains the raw energy of Chicago's original house movement while incorporating contemporary tech house elements.
