Robert Hood

Robert Artis Hood operates from Detroit, where he began producing techno in the early 1990s after founding his first label Hardwax in 1991. He runs the M-Plant imprint along with its sublabels Drama and Duet, through which he releases the majority of his solo material. Hood records under several aliases including The Vision, Monobox, and Inner Sanctum, and has maintained consistent output with 67 releases tracked since 2009.

Hood produces minimal Detroit techno that spans raw, deep, and hypnotic territories alongside peak time driving tracks. His releases appear on M-Plant, Dekmantel, Rekids, Tresor Records, and Ultra, with his sound emphasizing stripped-down arrangements that prioritize groove and atmosphere over complex layering. His techno operates across various tempo ranges, from deeper hypnotic material suitable for opening sets to driving peak time tracks designed for main room floors, consistently maintaining the soul-focused approach that defines Detroit's minimal techno tradition.
