About

The Shapeshifters is a London-based house music group formed in 2003, originally comprising Simon Marlin from the UK and Max Reich from Sweden. The duo achieved mainstream success with their 2004 single "Lola's Theme," which reached number one on the UK singles chart. Their releases in the United States appeared under the name Shape:UK due to a trademark conflict with a Los Angeles hip hop group. Since Reich's departure in 2017, Marlin continues the project as a solo endeavor.

The Shapeshifters produces house music spanning nu disco, funky house, and deep house territories. Their sound draws from disco influences while maintaining contemporary house production standards. The group releases primarily on Glitterbox Recordings and Defected, two labels known for quality house music output. Their catalog includes 23 releases on Electrobuzz since 2015, with their most recent material appearing in 2026. The project's longevity demonstrates consistent output across house music's various sub-genres, from the disco-influenced nu disco tracks to deeper, more stripped-back house productions.
