Morphogenesis 8:16 Total Playtime: 21:16 min This is the first release by this duo, but it clearly demonstrates that they have a talent for making warped electronic music. “Optic Chasm” kick-starts this three-track EP with a noisy but eerie rhythm, with the pair covering their gained sound – like a cross between Maetrik and Cristian Vogel – in a churning, shrieking filter. “Eaten Alive” sees them explore a more abstract approach, with their rhythms descending into a twisted mess of hewn metal, which serves as an odd backdrop for dreamy synths. Finally, there’s “Morphogenesis”, another murky melange of gained and distorted anti-rhythms, this time engulfed in an acidic stench. Killekill deserves kudos for releasing a record as off the wall as Compound Eye.
