Below Ground EP  | KOMISCH019D Having recently released a stunning EP for Rob Booths Electronic Explorations label, Dublin-based producer, real name Matt Flanagan, drops three killer tracks on eBelow Ground, the nineteenth Komisch record. Flanagans mastery of hardware gear is audible from the get-go as iChain Drivei as sparse kicks are married with drip-drop frequency tones and insistent percussion. Uniting the primal ghetto urges of Mike Dunn and Robert Armani with the stealth-bomber precision of electro funk, iChain Drivei is a peak-time cut that stands out from the crowd. On iMovei, Flanagan revisits similar territory, but amid the rolling 808s drops a bass so oppressive it makes Putin look a softie. When the acid break drops, the intensity levels are pushed into the red. In Sync aka Lee Purkis from England it’s next on Delsin Records with 2 deephouse tracks “Storm” and “Subway Route” Delsin’s considered re-issue and re-release arm follows up on EPs from Claro Intelecto and son.sine with a trip back to an early UK techno heyday. The man behind the two tracks getting attention is In Sync aka Lee Purkis, generally regarded as someone who played a key role in the development of house and techno in England not just because of his DJ sets – Purkis would travel to the US to buy records no one else had – but so too for his productions. A steady stream of them was released from 1992 onwards on Irdial Discs, Plink Plonk and Fortune8 and each one was to the furthermost of futuristic techno and deep, spacious house music. The experienced producer has many skills in his arsenal and this new EP proves that once again. The title track ‘The Ample Waters’ is a joyous and lively concoction that fuses curious melodies with busy little piano stabs and more trilling, sunny melodies. It’s busy house for bustling dancefloors and next up, ‘Never Tilt‘ slows things down with jumbled, woody percussion falling over lazy drums and stretched, yawning synth smears.
