Rather than subject itself to the current techno trend of brutal simplicity or blissed-out lo-fi sounds, “Lost Again” is a faithful bootleg of Yello’s 1983 hit and is almost recklessly retro, picking references from New Order, Kraftwerk, Donna Summer and even the Pet Shop Boys. The result is something gloriously driven by the sound of hardcore underground disco clubs as that sound turned into techno and Chicago house. “Lost Again” features Maxim and is far more industrial. Picking space over substance but retaining that retro feel, it’s hard, cold and dirty, all the things good techno should be. But this is disco. Worth every penny.
