Alejandro Paz is a DJ and producer from Santiago de Chile who runs Radio Cómeme alongside Avril Ceballos and has remixed artists including Javiera Mena and Auntie Flo. His house and tech house productions appear on labels including Darkroom Dubs, Cecille, and Kompakt, spanning indie dance to minimal deep tech territories.
Local Suicide is the Berlin-based duo of Greek/German producers Maximilian Brudi and Konstantina Paschalidou Brudi, active since 2010. Their indie dance and nu disco productions appear on labels including Iptamenos Discos, My Favorite Robot Records, and Eskimo Recordings.
Welcome to 2021: Darkroom Dubs crack open their 18th year with a warm welcome to two new members to the roster Santiago producer Alejandro Paz and Berlin duo Local Suicide with Directions, complete with remixes from Undo, DJs Pareja and Velax.
Cold, cutting edge and boasting a full-spectrum of sounds, theres a slight irony to dropping a release called Directions when none of us know where the hell were going right now. But we sure as hell know what were listening to. And boy do we love it.
As proved on previous collaborations between the two acts on labels such as Nein and Aeon, Alejandros weighty production dynamics and Local Suicides purring noir soul complement each other to the very last transient. Part new romantic, part techno, all dancefloor; each track is a story just as much as its a song. Directions captures the frustrations and intensity of isolated life in the 21st century and Splish Splash takes a provocative, playful stance with its acid house bass plunges and cosmic squiggles.Its loaded with a full range of heavyweight remixes from a roll-call of exceptional talent: Undo gets a slinky bass guitar in the mix, DJs Pareja get wonky and bumpy while Velax fuses more grit and intensity in his special Isolated remix. The world may continue to spin backwards but we know where were heading And its artists like Alejandro Paz and Local Suicide who are helping us get there. Take care of each other.
