Following a brief summertime hiatus, Darkroom Dubs returns with Tales from Underground Vol. III. For the latest in the series, we shine a light on Silicone Soul’s deeper Darkroom Dub and Hypno House Dub remixes, all newly remastered by Conor Dalton at Glowcast in Berlin.n nFirst, we revisit their seminal rework of Schatrax’s Misspent Years. This remix took the techno favourite on a deep-tech odyssey, laying down a musical blueprint for the sound and direction of their Darkroom Dubs label. Already road-tested in Silicone Soul’s recent audio-visual hybrid DJ set at Salon des Amateurs in Dusseldorf, its dancefloor power remains undiminished.n nSilicone Soul’s Hypno House Dub moniker was inspired by a B-side tucked away on Housegang’s Hittrax 5 on Chicago’s Dance Mania label. With a less-is-more production ethos and Wild Pitch-style arrangements, these remixes were built around the authentic dancefloor foundations of hypnotic sounds and physical grooves.n nThe Hypno House Dubs featured on this release were previously vinyl-only, with Phonogenic’s Tammer and DJ Kimo & Hafid Fido’s Victory both appearing digitally for the first time. Together, they uncover another chapter in Silicone Soul’s rich back catalogue, bringing a selection of their lesser-heard remixes into the digital realm.n nClosing our latest missive is their Darkroom Dub of Swimming Pool Sound’s Submergible. Originally on our second vinyl release, Darkroom Dubs #2, this remix became an after-hours staple at Circo Loco at DC10 in Ibiza. The original was written by the late Juan Iborra and Carlos Mancha, and we dedicate this re-release to Juan’s memory.n nNext up on Darkroom Dubs, Silicone Soul embark on a new Kosmische excursion, with forthcoming releases from Mexican duo Factory Setup and South African house artist benjamin.r.
