Omri Cohen is a familiar name for anyone interested in the eurorack modular emulation named VCV Rack. He is one of the leaders who takes time from basic tutorials to full-on patching from scratch, turning a few notes into hypnotizing ambient ideas. Watching him work is inspiring, provides insights on how to make music, and liberates the myth that modular-made music is for nerds only. Archipel is excited to open its doors to a first release by Cohen, featuring a direction we havent heard him explore too much. Embracing a mixture of ambient, polyrhythmic techno and epic Blade Runner themes, Cohen drives the listener into a realm that evokes sci-fi tones, with a power we didnt know him doing. Since Archipel is celebrating its 20 years of existence, this release touches on the labels early days when techno and epic melodies would cross into an emotional and introspective blend. Its a pleasure to revisit this mood by letting Cohen explore a different side of his personality.
