Casablanca’s Sotor Records presents SOT13, a milestone for the label: its first release bringing two Moroccan producers together on a single record. Across four tracks, Ehmarj and Jbilo share a split EP rooted in the label’s signature language hypnotic, textured, dub-leaning techno while pulling it in two distinct directions.nnWhat unites the pair runs deeper than geography. Both are texture-obsessed producers who build entirely in the box, sculpting rhythm and atmosphere from the ground up rather than reaching for hardware. The result is a record that rewards the club and the headphones in equal measure.nnEhmarj opens the A-side. Concrete is a study in restraint a groove that grows slowly from start to finish, every sound given its own space, nothing added that doesn’t need to be there. Move On turns hypnotic: the kick sits forward from the first bar, pulling the listener in and holding them curious about where it’s headed. A returning Sotor artist following his appearance on the label’s Milestone compilation, Ehmarj works fluidly between hardware and software, but committed fully to the box for these two productions.nJbilo takes the B-side. Kiki’s Shadow is bouncy and playful yet charged with energy, built around sharp metallic percussion and carefully worked textures its name drawn from a cat the producer once cared for, whose presence surfaced in one of the track’s atmospheric layers. Nano Swarm emerges from foley experiments, its treated sounds set to answer one another until a rhythm takes hold. Jbilo is the project of Aymane Lemghari, a producer from the Jbala region of northern Morocco, now based in Mohammedia. A member of the Inception Maghreb collective, he moves between club-focused techno and original compositions for contemporary dance.nnWith SOT13, Sotor turns its lens inward two homegrown voices, one shared conviction that the most interesting techno is the kind you build one texture at a time.
