Meaning lines in Arabic, Sotor Records has always traced its connections outward from Casablanca. With SOT14, those lines travel East and Thats Another Story opens a new chapter for the label. Across five original tracks from Moldovan-Chinese artist Lina K, the Mediterranean horizon dissolves into the misty ridgelines of a Chinese shan-shui landscape: the graphic lines of Sotor become mountain crests, and the fog marks the passage from one world to another. A pillar of Shanghais underground for fifteen years and founder of the Techno Train movement, Lina K (Lina Kushnir) now lives between Chisinau and Berlin. Her sound is fierce and fearless dark atmospheres, groovy basslines and cosmic soundscapes laced with hypnotic FM tones and breakbeat textures. She also leads Techno Is A Woman, a project amplifying women and marginalized voices in the scene, and has released on Rave The Planet, MODE, Synthlab and more. The five titles read like fragments of a conversation, each built from scratch around a different approach to the low end: But Why the opener: a peak-time cut, already proven on the dancefloor, that launches the EP with intent.
