Behind the House : Release Notes
Already with the Clarisse volume 12 floor-filler ‘Alguna Locura’, the Angel Heredia collaboration ‘Vibra’ and the solo expedition ‘Parriba’ under his belt this year, man for all seasons Mendo heralds a new era of house music all night long with a quartet of vital new grooves. No need to ‘Take A Chance’, you know exactly what you’re gonna get from the premier DJ, producer, remixer and jetsetter: Mendo’s opening track jacks out of the blocks with one of his trademark basslines flowing through, and an equally slippery synth melody supplying quicksilver firepower. With earworm whooshes pushing you on, it’s the breeziest of EP welcomes. Up next is ‘Momentum’; a bassline that ducks and dives, dips and springs is Mendo in pure hands-up house form. The piano stabs and horn flutters put cherries on the cake, and this dressed-to-impress bumper has the potential to start a party line that goes on for miles with its big builds and perpetual motion. Featuring one of dance music’s all-time classic vocals that still knows how to serve a dancefloor in 2026, ‘Continuous’ flicks glitz and glamour into the soul of funky sub-filtered licks providing the track’s heartbeat. More brass sections ride the wave to back up disco wisdom doing the business: don’t stop until you get enough with this hot one. Closing the EP out is the buoyant ‘Joyride’, featuring a snippet of another vintage dance vocal, and with Mendo kaleidoscopically cruising while the dancefloor gets a workout. Based on a groove of cascading synth fractals and a playful set of chimes in a kind of kitsch, cool cat rotation, it’s one for a spin by the bar before pulling you into where the action is.
