Behind the Indie Dance : Release Notes
Brazil-born, Vienna-raised DJ, producer, and vocalist Joyce Muniz teams up with LA artist VNSSA on PETS Recordings for their new EP ‘Switch On’, releasing 6th November. Muniz’s music has been described as boundary-breaking, a mix of electro energy, lo-fi and afro-electro sounds guided by rhythm, identity, and spirit. VNSSA’S background as an indie and rock drummer has shaped her rhythm-focused tracks, blending house, techno, breaks, and funk with driving, energetic percussion that has landed her on labels like ThreeSixZero, Realm, and Sweat It Out. Well known across Berlin’s club scene as a key figure in electronic music, remixer Maltitz’s dynamic sets range from balearic house to techno, Italo-disco, and electro. Commanding vocals and darting bass synths form the bedrock of ‘Switch On’; synths perform like sirens, building anticipation as sonic textures rain across the soundscape to create a dynamic club cut. Remixer Maltitz offers a punchy refix of the original with UK garage two-step percussion, breakbeat buildups, and rejoicing chords, following his EP on the label earlier this year.
