Deepchord

Deepchord originates from Detroit, Michigan and began as a dub techno project in 1997, initially formed as a duo consisting of Rod Modell and Mike Schommer. In 2002, Mike Schommer departed and Deepchord became Rod Modell's solo project. The project operates from Detroit's electronic music scene and has maintained consistent output since 1997.

Deepchord produces dub techno and ambient techno characterized by dubby beats, crisp static, synthetic analogue grooves, and deep chord progressions. The project releases music primarily through Soma Records, with additional releases on AvantRoots, Echospace [Detroit], and Vibrant Music. Deepchord's sound centers on the deeper, hypnotic side of techno with ambient textures layered throughout the compositions. Rod Modell has released 29 tracks through various labels since 2011, with releases spanning from raw deep techno to more driving peak-time variations while maintaining the project's signature dub-influenced aesthetic.
