‘Anything You Want’, Charlie Sparks has got. At just 20 years of age the UK producer has already received notable backing from Danny Howard and stepped up to Riva Starr’s Snatch! label – two significant rungs up a ladder aimed at the stars. Ditching the rainy stereotypes of his North West England HQ for a sound coming in to land on fertile clubland soil, Sparks continues to fly on his Clarisse debut as he makes your house wishes his command.

Adorned with a wondrous vocal sample, the title track packs throbbing bass and hi-hats that slice through the dancefloor, making ‘Anything You Want’ a deceptively quick and feisty club opponent. ‘Hush’ won’t go quietly, a classic Clarisse creation of deep house with both a flamboyant party side and a set of biceps. Steadied by a bassline bringing you in from the bar, the breakdown asks a question bound to gain a positive reply.

Sparks equips himself with groove ingredients, effects and edits that continue to achieve both bounce and bulk. Another recognisable soundbite to get your body into gear appears on ‘Shake It’, a tougher bottom end funking this one past sundown and extending the fading summer. ‘Tha Beat’ completes the quartet, doing a fine shadow job on what’s gone before with pumping kicks and bass, synth twinges, including a tailspin digging into the dancefloor, and vocal twists both shouting and whispering at you. It’s official: Charlie Speaks has what you want, what you need, what you feel.
