Italian producer AnDe Trois is an artist with a firm grip on dance floor dynamics. Previous releases on Analytic Trail, Kms and Gain have seen him balancing the disciplined practices of audio engineering to the more somatic demands of the dance floor and his latest offering for Kuukou sees him strike that balance with aplomb. ‘Cry Later’ is an exercise in pressure and restraint. A rough and rugged kick pulses in the chest of the track while a gritty high-end layers in shuffling sheets. Energy accumulates as on-beat claps and rich, expressive stabs reveal a certain Detroit coding that is given a Central European Twist via creative sequencing and a head-melting breakdown. Spanish American producer James D offers up his take, effortlessly thickening the groove and broadening the aperture of the sound spectrum as he generates a more frenetic vibe that sits comfortably in larger spaces. Vocals ring out, injecting some soul while fizzing drums scorch the top-end right until the end of a highly effective DJ tool. Also included on the EP is an ‘Intro Mix’ which provides an arresting on-ramp for both this record and also for DJs looking to make their presence known.’
