Gracefully traversing the space between introspection and propulsion, this three-track collection showcases Yamil’s ability to blend emotional depth, meticulous groove craft, and expansive atmospheres into a captivating first statement that feels equally suited for solitary reflection and peak-time immersion Record opener “Hold To Me” makes its intentions clear from the first bar as a throbbing low-end pulse provides a solid foundation for cavernous stabs to interlock, imbuing the cut with a cavernous, yet panoramic feel. Slowly, a tense air fills the room before a gentle voice reveals itself, holding us by the hand as we venture into the heart of the sun. Here, crisp hats are restless sequences begin to take hold of the piece, acting as a sublime rush of blood to the head before we are presented with a most intimate series of twist and turns for a marvelous introduction. Next up, Yamil unfolds “Katanga”.Guttural, yet incredibly sophisticated, this follow up piece sees the Spanish producer constructing a thumping frame that treads over dark terrains as textured percussive sequences begin to layer up. Out of the darkess, tantalizing swells sway in and out before iridescent swells begin to ebb and flow, drawing entracing patters.
